My lovely wife purchased me a record player for Christmas, a really cool present. All of the reviews I have read about how to properly enjoy vinyl says that you should invest in a decent set of headphones to go along with your rig, so today I started researching. I’ve come up with a few of the normal contenders such as Bose and Sennheiser, however a few sites that cater to audiophiles (yeah, I kind’ve hate that term too) were recommending a company called Grado.
After some reading on Amazon, it seems that most of the consumer reviews have stated that people that really know this stuff and have tried them all often settle back on Grado. The good thing is they’re on the lower end price-wise, so I might give them a shot. Several people at the office have headphones that they use for their music while working, so I may ask around a bit before making my purchase. I suspect they will all be using “known” brand names like Bose, but it never hurts to ask.
The interesting thing is that these headphones seem to be selling on Ebay for more than their retail price, which is a phenomenon I’ve only seen a few times. It usually ends up happening on items that have high quality and people know what they are looking for but are too lazy to actually shop around, so Ebay stores will list them a little more than other online retailers and still end up selling them somehow.
The “other tales” portion of my blog can be summed up pretty easily… I had a good day today and wrapped it up by chatting with my cousin on Skype, something we do rarely but is always fun. It’s getting late, so I suppose I should head up to bed! More soon!
