Tonight we joined the Waltons for a concert in Boulder, but this was not just any ordinary concert. It was a concert by ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. The venue was a giant barn in the middle of a park in Boulder, which held around 1200 people. The show was sold out.
It was almost a Storytellers style show, where Jake would explain what his songs were about, what his inspirations were, and why he found certain songs interesting. He played While My Guitar Gently Weeps, In My Life, Hallelujah and Bohemian Rhapsody just to name a few of his covers. He also did a lot of original pieces, all of which were interesting for different reasons.
I can honestly say I’ve never quite seen anything like watching a little guy shred a little ukulele in a barn. It was excellent!
