Today I began work on my second ukulele, this time it’s a project for my Dad. He wanted me to make him a Grizzly ukulele kit but with some additional frills… different tuners and wood binding along the edges. Today I accomplished the repetitive but relaxing task of sanding the kit parts. While doing so, I noticed a squeaking sound as I was cleaning the dust out from inside the body of the ukulele and upon closer inspection the back brace had come loose. Thankfully, I could reach the affected area with a small paintbrush, so a few dabs of Titebond II wood glue and hopefully the problem is solved.
Next on the list is the learning experience: installing the wood binding. This critical juncture is the point where I am most likely to screw up the entire kit and have to buy a new one, but it is direct experience for my guitar projects so I have to start learning somewhere! More soon!
