It has been an eventful weekend at the Dalcher household. On Saturday, I picked up La Mar’s Donuts for breakfast after stopping at Home Depot to get some guitar-building supplies. I spent most of the afternoon in the garage, sanding away at some leftover cocobolo binding to make enough sawdust to create a wood filler. I successfully used this filler to take care of the gaps between the binding and purfling, and I left it to set up overnight. In the meantime, I got my sprinkler system up and running for the year. There were a few sprinkler heads that weren’t coming up all the way, but their coverage was sufficient for another year. Next year I’ll budget to have the guy come out and replace them.
Today was a really big day: Eve’s baptism. Everything went very smoothly, and Eve looked like an angel in her Christening gown that my grandparents got for her. Since none of my family could attend, we had our friends Paul and Jenny Ballew stand in as proxy godparents for my sister and brother-in-law. Tasha’s mom was there as well, and it was nice to have one of Eve’s grandparents there for the event.
Here, we have the option of having the baptism in Mass so we did. It was a very nice privilege, and my favorite moment from it was when the priest held the baby aloft and said “Welcome our new sister, Eve Marie” to applause from the congregation. Eve’s little head still smells like holy chrism. After the Mass was over, we got some pictures (now available on Facebook) and celebrated with lunch at Olive Garden. More soon!
