The wedding day came and I still had no tuxedo. I also needed to get my hair cut, because I wasn’t going to be the only shaggy groomsman at this thing. I set out to my sister’s beauty school to get my hair cut about 10 am. I stopped and got gas, and then made it over there. I had to wait for an hour or so because she was backed up, but I expected this and had plenty of time.
As I was heading out from there, the nervous groom
Matt was pretty cool during lunch, I think he was about ready to get everything over with. We headed out to pick up our partner in crime,
We got our tuxes on and Matt realized that he was lacking one little black button for his tux, so I loaned him one of mine. Apparently this made little difference to the tux shop, because the guy looked right at the card when I checked it back in and he didn’t care.
Then we were off to the botanical gardens for pictures. Matt looked hella nervous, Sarah looked pretty cool despite all the bustling around that was going on. We had a few pictures taken, and it was at this time that I called Tasha to have her bring some black socks with her so I didn’t look like an ass.
She was extremely upset, because she was having some sort of wardrobe malfunction with her new dress that she bought. I told her that she’d look fine whatever she decided to wear and then got back to comforting Matt.
We were all pretty unsure when to actually proceed down the aisle, as Matt had composed the music for the seating of the guests. We were told “it was a piano arrangement” and there were several false starts because there were four piano arrangements before the proper one. No big deal, we pulled it off.
The ceremony itself was EXTREMELY short as far as weddings go, but this was favorable as we were standing roughly seven inches from the Sun. Instead of lighting the Unity candle, Matt and Sarah elected to break boards. It went off pretty well, and Hickman also covered with some logical sounding explanation why they were doing this. Matt got a little choked up while listening to Sarah’s vows, and Sarah did likewise. Everything went according to plans and the ceremony was a success.
After that, it was onward to the reception which will warrant an entry of it’s own due to portions of extreme fun.
