What a great Christmas we had this year! It all started out oh-so-early at 6:30 am when we decided to get up to do our own gift exchange before my parents house at 8 am. My wife totally surprised me with The Ring of Barahir, or Strider’s Ring from LOTR. I’m wearing it right now, and it’s just about the coolest thing in my collection. She was thrilled with her sewing machine, it had more features than she knew how to use so I figure that’ll be fun enough for her. 🙂
My parents totally outdid themselves this year, they got me a bunch of cool LOTR stuff and $100 to go toward something for my computer or prop collection, my choice. I’m thinking about spending it toward an iPod, because I’ve wanted one of those bastards for years. They also got me a How To Juggle book as a gag gift, but I really am going to try to learn how. It was fun for me to give my Dad his LOTR Sting sword, he really liked it and took it out to play with it immediately. 🙂
After that, it was off to my aunt’s house to celebrate with my Dad’s side. Much food was ate, the gift exchange happened, and the little kids were hilarious to watch. We were treated to a rousing 6-year old version of Jingle Bells by my cousin’s kid, Alec. It was hilarious. My gift exchange gift was the Collectors Gift Set of Return of the King, so some shuffling of gift receipts left me in good shape on that front.
After injesting horrible amounts of capleti, it was back to my parents house because they had something else for us. My sister and her fiance were there too, and they got us both camcorders so we could record all of the new things going on with our lives right now. It’s an awesome gift, I haven’t had time to break it in yet.
After that, Tasha and I elected to go home and crash for about three hours. Then it was off to my great aunt’s house to do my Mom’s side family drawing. I usually don’t like going there too much because of the concentrated levels of redneck, but this year it wasn’t so bad. We ended up leaving early and then it was back to the homestead to relax. It was a great day, I gave and received some great gifts and spent some good times with my family so I can’t complain.
There’s more to come, as well… my extended family is coming in for my Mom’s side Christmas on Thursday of this week. I’m sure there will be updates about that as it happens.
