Today Dad and I took my stockpile of cans to the recycling yard, which yeilded $20.44. On the way back, I decided to call to see if my grandpa needed any help planing and jointing the boards that we took out there, he said he did.
We went out there and helped him with the first batch, and after laying it all out we realized that we’d be short a few boards, so back to Pekin we went. After loading up a few more boards, we made our way back out to my grandparents house. We planed and jointed the rest of the boards, halfway through the last board it got caught up a little (it was 9 feet) and the planer belt burned out.
We made a trek back to Pekin Hardwood netted us a replacement belt, to the tune of $29.33. My grandpa had never had a planer belt burn out, and he’s had that planer for about 10 years. We were able to replace the belt and finish up our job without any other problems.
We got in town just in time to be informed that I had to go to a vistation for my wife’s step-mom’s father, who passed away after long illness on Monday. Tasha barely knew him, but we made the trip back to Manito to support her Dad and stepmom. We didn’t stay long, but I still was unable to work out like I originally planned tonight. The rest of my night has been spent whiling away the hours on the Internet.
Tomorrow’s the day for the high def cable! 🙂
