Today’s workout was Sochin kata. We got started a little late, and around kata #11
So the last nine katas I did were more focused on visualizing beating up people in hockey masks (as Matt put it). I also realized today why my knee was hurting. For some reason I was holding my back hip too high and this caused unnatural pressure on my knee joint. Sensei Hartman helped me correct this and not only does this help my knee, my stance is lower, stronger, and apparently doesn’t look as retarded.
I must say, I’m feeling today’s workout already… my energy level is in the crapper. However, I did accomplish 20 Sochin kata, and now that I can do them without hurting myself I should be able to start progress again. Sensei was right… doing this with intensity is much more fun than just worrying about little issues relating to form.
Oh… and I noticed the percentage today… we’re over 1/3 of the way there.
