This morning’s workout was hard. Not so much hard from a physical perspective, but also hard mentally. Everyone was pretty blown out after Thursday night and let me tell you… it showed during my first five kata of the day.
My thighs felt so tight I could actually feel them bulging as I moved around in Sochin stance for the first two or three kata. They finally remembered what they were supposed to be doing and started obeying. It was everything that I could muster to get through the required 17 kata needed to get me to 800 (woot!), and after I got there I really wanted to knock three more out to get it to a nice round 20.
I’m still working on the timing for the vertical knifehands like Sensei Brewer showed me on Tuesday night. I need to slow it down and focus on the hand and body timing, but at the same time I have a large desire to do “battle kata” and just leave those details behind at this point.
I gotta say… I’m smoked after this week. I put down 103 kata since last Saturday, and I am feeling it today. Hopefully the nice long holiday weekend will provide me some time to heal and relax. I need to get 30 more kata in by Wednesday to be right on pace for getting my goal by the end of the year.
I’d also like to take a moment to welcome my brother-at-arms
