In between classes, we asked Sensei Quinn to perform a Sochin… HOLY CRAP do I have a lot of work to do. I have many more thoughts on that front, but I have a better way to delineate them so stay tuned.
For the second class, Sensei Brewer asked Sensei Quinn to teach the class Hangetsu kata. We spent around 45 minutes diving deep into the kata, and I was really happy to get to focus on this kata. I found that hangetsu-dachi feels somewhat more natural than I seem to remember it… my hips feel very free to move when I settle into the inward tension of this stance. I like the explosive feeling of the outward block then punching combinations in the middle of the kata.
It was an excellent workout followed by an excellent get together at Goodfellas. Many stories and much merriment was had, also, beer and popcorn. Good times!
