Yesterday my lovely wife and I made a trek to the Quad Cities for the wedding of my college buddy, Dan. Dan and his wife began dating as my tenure at Western ended, so I didn’t know her very well. The actual ceremony itself was only around 45 minutes, in this neat sancuary that had large black exposed beam ceilings. It was a nice wedding ceremony, both Dan and Courtney did not seem very nervous at all and seemed to enjoy every minute of the proceedings.
The reception was held at the Mark of the Quad Cities, which was about a two minute walk from our hotel. Very convienent! This is an important fact to note, because Dan was one of the founding members of the tight-knit group of guys that lived on my floor affectionately known as the Tanner 8 Drinking Team. Luckily, most of the Team made it to the party, and we’ve still got game. A lot of game. Dan wouldn’t dream of having anything but free beer for us to have at his reception, so much awesomeness ensued. The DJ was playing this strange hybrid of slow country songs and fast dance/pop music, but that didn’t stop my wife and I from getting out there and dancing a bit.
This somewhat grainy image (taken with the RAZR) is Dan overlooking a tower of pilsner glasses that we wrought throughout the night. We added an additional tier to this sculpture before one of the wait staff came and made us disassemble it. The rest of the reception broke up fairly early, but there were around a dozen of us that used to live on Tanner 8 at Western and we ended up closing the thing out. It was great to get to sit and swap stories about college and lament the fact that we hadn’t done a better job of keeping in touch.
It was definitely a great time!
