Day Two began early, mainly because Teddy’s medicine makes him need to go out every 3 hours. That put me awake at the ripe ol’ hour of 8:30 in the morning. I called National Rental and made arrangements to pick up the chain link stretcher and Sawz-All for the next two days, and picked them up.
My Dad and I started in early and were fraught with missing parts, wrong parts, not enough bolts of the proper length… you know… the trappings that come with improper planning.
We spent most of this day travelling from store to store looking for parts, apparently they don’t make tension bands or rail end bands for 1 5/8″ line posts. My neighbor’s fence (which we’re tying to) uses 1 5/8″ line posts for the whole thing, so we needed to find something that worked.
We found some 1 3/16″ fittings to try, later on that night we got on the Internet to find that they do make the fittings in the appropriate size, but NO STORES around here stock them. So the solution is either to retrofit (aka bend the crap out of) the 1 3/16″ fittings.
We ended up hanging the gate to Delores’s yard and calling that a victory for the day.
