On Tuesday night, I knocked out 10 Sochin before we had a class relating to punching. Lots of punching. And it became immediately apparent that I do not do that very well. We did lunge punch, reverse punch, and jab drills for the first class, ramping it up to 3-5 time sparring and further emphasis on punching during the second class.
I think mine is a mental problem… I need to learn to commit my attacks. I am more tentative with my punches because for some reason I feel like I am making myself more vulnerable when I open my guard. It’s not really fundmentally different than kicking, but for some reason I am more comfortable doing that. I need to work on this… we just need to spar more as a whole.
Balancing that and the other 778 Sochin that I have left should be a bit of a trick, but I will find a way.
