The second class was cut somewhat short by another stripe test, it was a very good showing by both of the young ladies taking it. They both passed and are now eligible for the yellow belt test! Exciting for them, I’m sure!
Sparring was the name of the game for the advanced class tonight. I don’t have a specific excuse, but I was really off my game tonight. I was overthinking things, not committing to techniques, and doubting myself right out of stringing attacks together the way I should be. While sparring with Dunham-san, I got my foot stepped on mid-retreat which sent me sprawling knees over elbows backwards. Naturally, right in front of Sensei Brewer. That always happens!
I did have a fair measure of fun while sparring, despite the aforementioned difficulties.
In all, the most fun I had tonight was slow sparring between classes with
