I would like you to know that you were missed today. Thank you for the note that you put on my desk, that was very classy. You were missed so much, in fact, that our beloved back-end application cried real tears of blood all evening for you.

It was so inconsolable that Schultz and I had to remain at work all night taking care of it, had to come on board to help me make it realize that there is life without you. In the end, it drifted peacefully (so far) to sleep around 1 am, but BOY was it acting crazy. You’ve never seen such arm waving and gesticulation followed by such depression.

So distraught was the system that it found a way to cut off all access to the communication chain to our new management staff, so it was just us low men (and women) on the totem pole to help it see the light. In the end, we were victorious. But know you will be missed by both man and machine.
