Tuesday night’s class was a nice solid workout consisting largely of partner drills and basics. The group was introduced to a mini House of Pain in the form of the same ab workout that we did on Saturday, and I am happy to report that I did a tad better this time around.
For the second class we did some one time sparring followed by some slow sparring and I had some really good go-arounds with some of my dojomates. For some reason I have a sparring itch that I can’t quite scratch, I have a feeling the clinic this weekend should take care of that one.
Tonight’s workout consisted of a somewhat slower paced basic workout followed by a really cool partner drill that focused on hip action and backfist strike during the first class. Unfortunately, the black belts were required to help with the drill so we didn’t get a chance to play on that one.
For the second class we did some sparring drills and I was trying MISERABLY to keep both my feet under me and moving as one unit but instead I had Quasimodo-foot dragging behind me. Thankfully, we only did combinations for about half of the second class, the rest was filled with a nice little kata review, we did all three Tekkis, Heian Godan, Nijyushiho, and Bassai Dai. It was a good workout and my kata felt decent for the first time in awhile.
I find that when my breathing is doing OK, so is my technique. On days that I’m having trouble getting wind or am stuffed up due to allergies everything suffers. I’m really looking forward to the clinic this weekend to get past this strange need that I have to inflict bodily harm on myself and others. 🙂
