Tonight I was called upon to exercise my Nidanly (totally not a word) duty to teach in Mapleton. We had a large stock of white belts, so I elected for a very basic class focused on basic punch and some light stance training before the end of the first class. For some added interest, I broke out the perfect pushup handles and had each person in the class do a turn while the rest of us did straight punch while focusing on the fine details of punching.
The second class was sparse enough that I offered to have the white belts stay behind if they wanted, and one of the new white belts (older parent of one of the kids) stayed behind so we worked on front kick for awhile, and moved on to sparring combinations. The white belt did some basics while the rest worked on those combinations, and I think everyone had a good time.
I like the Mapleton crew. They are working really hard and definitely into it, and it was nice to get a chance to train with them. Hopefully I will get there more often in coming months!
