Some of you may remember a few weeks ago I purchased some Grado SR-80i headphones to go with my record player. These headphones need breaking in, which is recommended as several hours of listening to different styles of music at different volume levels to flex the components to their optimal performance. So tonight I slapped my iPod on shuffle and listened to a few hours of music and I’m pretty blown away by these headphones.
The most striking aspect of the experience is the detail that is audible in songs that I’ve heard hundreds of times before. For example, I was listening to “I’ll See Your Heart and Raise You Mine” by Bell X1 and I could hear the beads of the percussionist’s shaker rattling around. Yes, I’m aware that statement is hilarious when taken out of context, grow up people. 🙂
I can tell I’m going to get a lot of use out of these headphones, I can’t wait to listen to them more. For now, its off to bed!
