This weekend was actually not that bad after all.
I got home about noon on Friday. Upon arriving in town, I met Tasha for lunch at Steak and Shake which was extremely good. We went to get Tasha’s hair done for our engagement pictures, and we just so happened to run into Garls-san at the salon. So while Tasha got her hair done, I got a blow-by-blow of what was going on at the dojo, how his training was going, etc. etc.
After that, we headed off to our engagement pictures. If this is any kind of a sneak peek at what her hair is going to look like for the wedding, she is definitely going to look amazing. Our picture sitting was supposed to be outside, but rain forced us to get them taken in the studio. It was still very worthwhile, the photographers were very accomodating and we actually got some really interesting shots. I’m still utterly convinced that Tasha is the more photogenic of the two of us, so I’m sure these pictures are going to be great, providing that I am in shadows or behind scenery or something.
On Saturday, we had our first Pre-Cana (wedding) Catholic classes. It consisted of being told all day long how marriage was forever, communication was important, and that it was our duty to produce as many little Catholics as we possibly could so they can continue doing sordid things with them. We were getting lectured by a guy that was a church employee. He was at one time a seminarian (going to be a priest) but decided to get married instead. He has been married for 11 years, and has four kids. Four. I want at most two, three in case of operator error.
Aside from the communication worksheets, everything else was mostly reviews from my earlier CCD education (what is a sacrament, what is a covenent, etc) with a healthy splash of ridiculous Catholic rhetoric. I was happy to see the day end.
Sunday, we decided to go to Tanners Apple Orchard as a family, and my cousin/best man John happened to stop by as we were leaving so he came along too. Tasha was working, but all in all it was pretty fun. John and I ate our way across the market there, coming out with bags of donuts, fritters, kettle corn, and of course about a bushel of apples. I decided later that night that I was sick of having severe congestion, headaches, and a painful lung so I went to First Care to get some meds so I could live again. The woman said that I had a pretty bad psinus infection, ear infection, and that my side was hurting because I probably pulled muscle coughing. I’ve been on the medicine for two days now, and I’m already on the mend. Huzzah!
Monday was pretty dull, I went to lunch with my sister which was about the only fun part of the day. The rest of the day was spent hanging around my house waiting for Tasha to get off work. I hate having to leave her in Pekin when I come back to school, but right now I’ve gotta get this crap done so I don’t have to come back here next semester.
Aside from finding out that one of my old Karate teachers is a drug dealer, most everything else went as planned. If you’re curious about that, check my earlier post or go over to
