Last night Tasha and I went with
I was concerned when we pulled into the concert and Matt produced ear plugs for all of us to utilize. We got in there, and it was a Freak Festival. I enjoyed being in the midst of people that were trying SO hard to make the statement “ooh, look how somber and jaded with life I am.” The first band was right up there with construction work next door or fifteen alarm clocks going off at once. There were no vocals. Just this horrible rhythmic grating sound.
After the first band got done, we decided to adjourn to the arcade/bowling alley area until the headlining show came on. There we sat and shot the shit, and generally had a great time. After much prodding, I tried in vain my first attempt at a DDR style game. I have no rhythm at all, dancing at my wedding should be a hoot. After that embarassment, Matt showed me how it was done, and then we all took turns playing a few rounds of Air Hockey.
We headed back to the table for a bit and visited some more, and then it was time to don the ear plugs again for the headlining band (The Ghost, I think their name was?) These guys were quite a bit better than the others, through the ear plugs their sound was tolerable, had a good beat, and the vocals were pretty good. Without the ear plugs, it was a torturous hell of sound that was crafted by Lucifer himself. I probably could’ve thoroughly enjoyed it if they turned the volume down from liquify.
After the concert ended, we decided to go to Denny’s for some grub. I delved a bit too deep into one of Matt’s dreams and got a surprise, and I ate good Chicken Strips. We also spoke at length about D&D, we’ve set up tentative plans for our campaign to begin this coming weekend. I can’t wait for that, totally looking forward to the Good Stuff beginning. Right before we left, Matt and I both decided it would be prudent to use El Restroom, and on our way out some guy came in commenting how he got drunk on a Saturday night (it was Friday), and how he wished he could recycle his pee so he could get drunker for free. I told him that it wouldn’t taste as good, so he wasn’t missing anything. The drive home was long and cold, we ended up getting back about 1:45 or so. Good times.
