Day Three at work begins early… for some reason against the laws of nature I arrived at work ten minutes early today. No one else is in my cube yet, it appears that most people start around here at roughly 8:30 am. My supervisor stopped by and spoke with me for roughly a minute, and then ran off again. I’m beginning to get the feeling that I will always be chasing her down should I want to discuss things with her.
But that’s OK, she’s still paying me the big bucks, so I don’t care. I’m spending today familiarizing myself with what the user sees when they use the software that I am going to be developing on/supporting, so that’ll be a barrel of laughs.
There are a few guys here that appear to be like-minded to me, they’re a little older on average, but they seem to enjoy videogaming and movies and whatnot. They’ve already given me a hard time about wearing a tie all week this week, apparently this is not required fare. I want to make a good impression on all of my supervisors, so I’m electing the path of most professionality for a little bit.
Tasha spent yesterday in Bloomington with her mom and her maid of honor, so I only got to see her for a few minutes last night. My parents, sister, and I spent last night messing with sealing wax for our wedding programs. I had the good fortune of dripping hot wax on my little finger, leaving a healthy blister. That stuff is both fun and dangerous all at the same time.
Tonight I am heading to the Church after I get off work in order to go to my pre-wedding confession, something that is apparently required for all sacraments to “take”. I elected the priest that I already don’t like, so I can just blast it off and forget about it. The only caveat is I have to go three days without committing any damning sins. Otherwise I have to go again. I think I can probably make it that long. We’ll see.
