Well, for the next few days I am sequestered in Java Training. So far the course material we’re going to cover is far enough out of the realm of what I found out from college, so it’s still marginally interesting.
We just finished with our first section and we were given a fifteen minute break. I got some cookies (non Famous Amos this time!) from the vending machine so that I can sufficiently sugar up for the push towards lunch.
Tonight I’ve got my sister’s fiance’s brother coming over. He mows lawns on the side, so I’m having him assess ours so I don’t have to a.) buy a lawnmower b.) sweat more than normal or c.) cut my leg off mowing the steep incline in my front yard.
If he leaves early enough, I’m going to go in search of a new cell phone. The company offers an employee discount with Verizon, so I hope that I will be able to get a phone that is worth a damn.
Also, my beautiful wife
Tonight’s topic is Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”, which is *just* intriguing enough for me to go and listen to. I’m going to view this as an opportunity to watch the priests and know-it-all’s attempt to justify this information that is based on a broader perspective than the Catholic Church normally has. I’m going to resolve ahead of time not to ask anything unless I just can’t stand it anymore, because once the dam breaks I don’t think there will be anything left of those poor SOB’s.
As an aside… during my confession, I brought this book up. The priest didn’t go into defensive “YOU SHALT NOT BELIEVE THIS” mode that they usually go into, but he just simply said that the book is purely one man’s opinion. There was no refutation, which I found extremely odd. Maybe tonight can shed some light on why this did not trigger the Great Catholic Faith Defense that most secular things like this do.
I am POSITIVE that there will be much blog material provided from this experience tonight. I can’t promise that it won’t end in my damnation.
