Tonight we’re off to see Hero, the new Jet Li movie. I have really wanted to see this since I saw the preview that went with Kill Bill: Volume 2. I hope it lives up to being awesome like the trailer shows it to be.
We’re missing D&D again this week due to wedding preparation for
The rest of this weekend will be devoted to packing and getting ready to move. This is not my ideal plan for a relaxing weekend, but it needs to be done. By this time next week we will be in our new house, and I’m really excited about that. The part I’m looking forward to most is finally getting to display my prop collection and have my stuff in a place where it won’t have to be uprooted in six months. It will be fun to repaint and redecorate the house too, I think that simple changes like that will make this house awesome.
The only part I’m concerned about is the few spots of dampness that the inspector found in the basement. He used a meter to determine moisture, so I don’t know if damp means because of humidity, or because of there’s rain coming in. One spot is in the furnace room and is of less concern to me, as there is a drain very nearby. The other is right at the base of the staircase.
He claims they are likely from gutter overflow or seepage, and the carpet at the bottom of the staircase appears to be in decent shape for being as old as it is. Also troubling is that the damp spot is right by an electrical outlet, which is probably not a good thing either. I might have my electrician friend close up that outlet so I don’t burn the house down. I’m probably just being overly paranoid about it, but the basement is one of the rooms that I don’t want fudged if I can help it.
I have already done some researching on Stanley Steemer, and they have Web Deals in case anyone is looking to get carpet cleaning done. I love local companies that embrace the web. Good for Stanley.
