Today marks the release of a new first person Ghostbusters game.  Vanirtjones is very into this game, touted to be akin to a Ghostbusters 3 movie, but I’m just not super-pumped about it like he is.

When I was a kid, I went through a Ghostbusters phase like any child of the 80’s.  I watched The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, I had the toys, I even had a cool “proton pack” toy that projected a ghost on the wall for you to bust.  The passion for this franchise quickly waned after the movies and cartoons stopped, and I find it difficult to get excited about it again.  I really enjoy seeing the detail that people have put into their Ghostbusters costumes and proton packs at GenCon, and that’s about where my nostalgia ends.

I had a VERY long but VERY productive work day.  Wall-to-wall meetings, but we actually decided some things and it was good.  I sure hope my meeting load lightens up over the next few days, it sure makes for a long day at the office.

Since Tasha and I had houseguests this weekend, we didn’t get around to grocery shopping so we did it tonight.  We had some date money left for this month, so Tasha and I went to Olive Garden.  I ate a whole pepperoni pizza, now I’m extremely full.  I don’t have a lot else to report at the moment.

This is some of the first stuff I’ve seen regarding the new The Beatles Rock Band game that is coming out, and I have to say that whoever did the art direction for this game is amazing.  I’m really looking forward to it!  I haven’t decided if I’m going to get only the game or if I’m going to spring for the full kit that has the Beatles themed instruments to go along with the game.

This video hyped me up for Beatles stuff today, so I came home and tried to learn some of their tunes on my new guitar.  I got the intro to Here Comes The Sun kind’ve working, I need to listen to the guitar parts to know how the next section goes.  It was fun to make a little progress!

I woke up pretty much on my own this morning, shortly after Tasha left to drop one of our houseguests off at the airport.  I guess the 16 hour sleep-spree that I went on Friday night/Saturday morning plus the 8 hours I got last night got me all sorted out for sleep.  My allergies are starting to subside, or at very least they’re starting to obey the commands of Aleve-D.

Today Tasha and I are guests at a D&D campaign that one of our StupidRanger.com readers is putting together.  It’s using the previous version of D&D (which is just fine by all of us) and it should be a pretty decent time.  This will mark the first time that I’ve played D&D with a group that consists entirely of people I don’t know very well personally, so it should be interesting.  Since I’m awake and relatively full of energy, I think I’m going to take Teddy for a walk now.

I made it back to Colorado in one piece!  I did a few hours at the office when I got back, then came home and crashed for literally 16 hours.  My allergies have been sucking for the last few days, and a combination of lack of sleep and allergy medicine put me down for the count.  Tasha was more than a little annoyed at my massive sleepapalooza, but she understood seeing how miserable I was.

It’s starting to get better today, but I’m still off-and-on plugged up.  We went to the chiropractor, Denny’s, Black & Read, and Jo-Ann’s Fabrics as errands today.  Tasha wanted to sign up for a class out at Jo-Ann’s so we had to drop by there in order to take advantage of a sale they were running on their in-house classes.  During our running, we got word that my grandpa isn’t in good shape.  He’s been dealing with a myriad of health problems over the last few years, so any positive energy and prayers that can be sent probably should be.  My mom and great-aunt are on the way down to visit him since it’s pretty touch-and-go right now.  Hopefully he will get better, only time will tell.

I am here at the majestic Greater Peoria International Airport waiting for my flight back home to Denver. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to transport some electronics back in my baggage, I was very surprised how little trouble I was given while checking my bag.

I am looking forward to getting back home to see Tasha and Teddy. Just a few more hours to go!

It was a good workout tonight… it all started with a little dojo cleanup.  It seems the daycare that runs in the YWCA left us with a bunch of muddy footprints and standing mop water on the dojo floor, so a bunch of us took to the task of sopping up the leftover water.

The workout was tough… the first class was all basics, focusing on technique and pushing off of the back leg.  The second class was a bunch of really fun partner drills, working primarily on distance and timing.  I was sparring with Tisdale-san and we clashed fists, drawing blood from the last knuckle on my left hand.  I didn’t realize this until the hip area of my gi was speckled with bloody drawback marks, I think this is the first time I’ve bled on this gi.

Sensei Wood showed back up tonight, it’s been a long time (I want to say something like 10 years, but that might be too long) since I saw him last.  It’s almost always good to see ghosts of karate past show back up at the dojo, especially people of his caliber.

I’m on the first flight back to Colorado tomorrow!  More from the high country soon!

I woke up this morning with itchy sinuses, which made the work day a real treat.  The good part: it was a productive day that went fast.  The bad part: I’ve got another one tomorrow.

I took some Benadryl before dinner, I can feel its sleep inducing effects starting to take hold.  I think I’m going to have a nap before going to visit my cousin tonight.

I got to get back to my home dojo tonight and was happy to see everybody, especially the Sensei Brewer, Hartman, and Quinn.  It was also good to see Dunham-san… we even stayed after class to work on Empi together.

The workout itself began with a pressure cooker of basics.  We moved on to partner drills pretty quickly, focusing on jab and reverse punch.  The second class was more sparring drills, I often heard the “he’s wearing a different patch, let’s get him!” joke as the black belts took turns sparring with me.  Highlights of the night: side thrust kicks with Sensei Hartman and jab/reverse punchs with Sensei Quinn.

I have no doubt in my mind that my home dojo is some of the best karate around.  The level of intellectual, precise training is head and shoulders above the rest.  I’m going to train on Thursday prior to heading back to the high country, then start counting the days until I can come back again.

Back to the office today, it was nice to get to see all of the Peoria folks again.  We had a VERY productive day, covering a wide variety of important topics.

Last night I noticed that my rear passenger tire was flat, so I filled it up with air this morning and made it to the office just fine.  I called the rental car company and asked them what they wanted me to do about the flat.  They told me I could go pretty much anywhere and get it plugged and they would reimburse me.  That was more hassle than I wanted to go through, so I asked if I could bring it back and trade it out for another car.  They said I could, so I left work and went straight to the airport to swap it out.

I came home and had dinner with the family, now they’re watching the Tony Awards.  And I’m trying to not watch the Tony Awards.  Tomorrow I get to drive up to the Hale Road office and start two days worth of meetings, so that’s something to look forward to!
